That is the problem we built this to solve. Specus Services is a licensed general contractor in Brunswick County that also cleans and maintains the properties it works on.
Specus Services was built because property owners were filling three roles at once — a cleaner, a maintenance contractor, and a builder — and coordinating all three themselves. We hold all three under one license.
One company for cleaning, another for repairs, a third for anything structural — and the owner or the property manager stuck in the middle doing the scheduling, the chasing, and the explaining when two of them contradicted each other. Nobody owned the whole picture, because nobody was responsible for more than a slice of it.
We thought we could do all three, do them better, and serve those clients better by holding them together.
Cleaning, maintenance, and construction are usually three separate companies that never talk to each other. The cleaner notices a soft spot in the floor and has no reason to report it. The repair contractor does not know what was done last year. By the time a builder is called, a small problem has become a large one.
We hold all three, so what one side sees the others know. Problems get caught earlier, work gets scheduled while the property is already empty, and the record of what has been done to the building stays in one place.
Twenty-five years in construction, ten of them running a repair, maintenance, and general contracting firm on this coast. Thousands of service calls, hundreds of renovations, and a working knowledge of which trades in this county show up and which ones get the job done.
Specus Services operates under HandyDan Home Repair and Remodeling, LLC, which holds North Carolina General Contractor License #103919 with the building classification.
Our community has grown a lot in the last few years. Rentals, offices, medical suites, retail, and new construction all at once. The vendor base has not kept up with that growth.
